YANGON, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has officially designated the new administrative capital city of Nay Pyi Taw as a district- level city, deleting it as a township from Mandalay division, the 7-Day News reported in this week's issue quoting a recent order of the Home Ministry.

The district-level Nay Pyi Taw is now made up of eight townships, of which Pyinmana, Lewe and Tatkon have been in existence before, while Oathara Thiri, Dekkina Thiri, Poppha Thiri, Zapu Thiri, Zeyar Thiri are newly added.

Land plots in the Poppha Thiri township are being allotted through luck draw system to government employees who have served for at least two years in the new capital government offices.

The addition of the five new townships to Nay Pyi Taw has brought the total number of townships in the country to 330, the report said.

Myanmar moved its administrative capital from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw in November 2005.

Nay Pyi Taw is located between middle mountain range of Bago Yoma and eastern mountain range of Shan Yoma.

It covers an area of 7,054.37 square-kilometers and has a population of 924,608.
