HANOI -(Dow Jones)- Vietnam's Military Telecom Corp., or Viettel,is finalizing plansto open a representative office in Myanmar, paving the way for the company to provide telecommunications services in that country, state media said Thursday.

Viettel, which operates one of the largest mobile phone networks in Vietnam, is also mulling providing telecommunications services in North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela, Saigon Giai Phong newspaper reported.

Viettel's mobile phone network in Cambodia has signed up 100,000 subscribers after two months of operations, the report said.

Viettel targets to become the second largest mobile phone operator in Cambodia within this year, it added.

The company said earlier this week in a statement that its revenue doubled in 2008 to VND33 trillion ($1.94 billion).

It said it had net profit of VND8.6 trillion last year, without providing comparative figures.
